bwone.com www.bwone.com twitter.com Now that we have unboxed the Kinect and took a look around the hardware its now time for us to check out how to setup the Kinect for Xbox 360. First we take a look at the setup using an older Xbox 360 which doesn't have the dedicated Kinect port that the new Xbox 360 S has that also provides the power for it. On he older Xbox 360 we will need to plug it in via the USB adapter and if you use the wireless adapter you will need to use the include wireless extension cable to plug the adapter into the front USB ports and then plug the kinect into the open port on the back and then plug in the power adapter into your wall outlet. Disappointing that you need to basically wire around the wireless adapter if you use one and I would think some type of USB splitter would have been better but that idea might not allow enough power to the USB for both devices. Maybe something will come out that will allow this in the future so you don't have a wire going around the front of your Xbox 360. Now when going though the setup process on the Xbox 360 you will immediately need to download an update to use you're the Kinect sensor and the update will take about 10 minutes to download and apply. Once you have that update installed you will go through a long calibration process to setup the sound, play space and microphone of the Kinect.
